THAC’S NEWS & ARTICLES
Victory Contents, the production company behind “River Where the Moon Rises,” announced that they had filed a lawsuit against Key East Entertainment, the agency of actor Ji Soo. The statement addresses that “due to Ji Soo’s allegations of school violence, which included physical assault, mugging, cheating on examinations, and sexual violence. (Neither Key East nor Ji Soo has admitted to specific allegations, and in the case of the sexual violence allegations, Key East has issued a firm denial), we have to recast the male lead. We have no choice but to reshoot all the scenes where the leads appeared. As a production company, although the additional reshoots had caused the company significant financial damages in addition to the already large budget, we decided to reshoot the first 6 episodes (which Ji Soo appeared and had already aired) in order to give viewers a complete production and full experience from enjoying the series.
“Despite our attempts to negotiate a settlement regarding Key East’s responsibility to compensate for the losses accrued as a result of actor Ji Soo’s departure, Key East denied and failed to comply. Thus, it has become inevitable that we pursue legal proceedings against the agency.”, Victory Contents continued. The lawsuit put forward by Victory Contents is estimated at over 3 billion won or 84 million baht in damages.
Key East has responded to a statement from Victory Contents with, “We believed that we were still in the negotiation stages of the damages settlement, and so we are baffled after discovering that Victory Contents has suddenly filed a lawsuit.”. Ji Soo’s agency also added, “We made sincere efforts to communicate with Victoria Contents and KBS. Key East also has requested for arbitration to settle the dispute.”
