Mediate First
Mediation is a favourable dispute resolution mechanism since it is a flexible and constructive way for parties to reach a mutual agreement regarding their disputes.
In 2009, the Department of Justice of Hong Kong (“DoJ”) launched a campaign called “Mediate First” Pledge (the “Pledge”) to promote the use of mediation as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism in Hong Kong. Under this campaign, the pledgees (companies, organisations/associations and individuals) sign the Pledge as a commitment to first explore the use of mediation to other means to resolve disputes and also the Pledgee’s recognition of the benefits of using mediation in resolving disputes.
This year, to promote the use of mediation in Thailand, THAC collaborates with DoJ to launch this campaign in Thailand. Thai companies, organisations/associations and individuals are encouraged to sign the Pledge to acknowledge their readiness to explore the use of mediation as a means of dispute resolution.
Benefits
1.To create awareness amongst Thai companies, organisation/associations and individuals about mediation as a preferable alternative dispute resolution mechanism
2. To promote the use of mediation as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism in Thailand
Please be informed, pledgee registers after 28 February 2023 would sign the pledge online only (instead of attending the signing ceremony)
