Crowds show keen interest at the “3rd National Mediation Competition” Orientation event, organized by THAC.
On April 8, 2021, the Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC) led by Mr. Pasit Asawawattanaporn, Managing Director of THAC, organized an orientation event for students who participated in the 3rd THAC National Mediation Competition 2021, in order to provide correct information to all of the participating teams. The participants were given insights into simulated situations and made aware of the competition rules prior to the actual competition, at the Thailand Arbitration Center Head Office, located on 26th Floor of the Bhiraj Tower Building (EmQuartier).
The THAC National Mediation Competition 2021, is being organized for the third time, in which participants will be provided with simulated commercial disputes situations. The main objectives of the competition are to, promote a better understanding among the younger generations with regards to dispute resolutions, and the roles and responsibilities of a “mediator” which does not necessarily or be limited to lawyers or legal advisors. Especially for this year, THAC has also added a special negotiation contest, which is considered as a crucial skill for mediators, with the objective to promote expertise and create new experiences for the contestants.
The competition has attracted extensive interests from several students from a wide variety of academic years and universities from many provinces, including Lampang, Phayao, Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathani, and Bangkok. A total of 42 teams were qualified, which were then divided into 18 mediator teams and 24 negotiating teams from around the country. The atmosphere of the orientation event was filled with fun, provided by invited speakers and Q&A sessions, providing information on the competition’s principles, methods and regulations prior to the actual event that will take place between 21- 23 April, 2021.
