Hot news: The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) banned Andrea Iannone, MotoGP rider, for failing a drug test.
Big news from motorsports, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) banned Andrea Iannone, an Italian MotoGP rider for the Aprilia team, for a total of 18 months after finding stimulants in his urine. This time, the detection of stimulants occurred during a random urine test for three riders during the Malaysian race in Sepang. It turned out that Andrea Iannone assumed detected drostanolone. FIM banned Andrea Iannone for 4 years, but the Aprilia team appeal the decision at the CAS. Andrea Iannone claims that during his travel in Asia he ate a lot of meat, from animals raised with stimulants. The CAS decided to ban Iannone for 18 months, effective from 17th December 2019, and he will not be able to compete until 16th June 2021. Currently, Andrea Iannone and the Aprilia team continue their appeal at the CAS for the second time, but the COVID-19 outbreak may delay the final decision. With the support of the Aprilia team, if the MotoGP Championship 2020 will reopen before Iannone’s appeal is decided, Bradley Smith, test-rider Aprilia, will replace Andrea Iannone.
