THAC discussed with SAT on the progress of establishing CAS as a dispute resolution for sports in Thailand.
On 2 March 2021, THAC Managing Director Mr. Pasit Asawawattanaporn and his team met with Mr. Kongsak Yodmane, the Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), as a follow up to the establishment of the Center of Arbitration for Sport and conclude the terms and conditions for the cooperation in dispute resolution in sport.
Thailand Arbitration Center or THAC is the Center that providing services in arbitration and other Alternative Dispute Resolution. The Center consists of a team of professionals who have knowledge and skills with international recognition. The Center attended a consultation with the Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) and the Committee on establishing the Center of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) to conclude a cooperation agreement for the settlement of sports disputes. The discussion also included the details of establishing the Center of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) and discussing an agreement to raise the standard of sports dispute resolution in Thailand to the highest efficiency with international standards.
Nevertheless, Thailand still has no dedicated organizational body or entity that provides services in resolving sports disputes. As such, THAC has cooperated with the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) to establish the Center of Arbitration for Sport, using dispute resolutions like mediation and arbitration. This cooperation will also push Thailand forward to become Asia’s sports dispute resolution center by having a knowledgeable case manager who expertise in the particular sports field. This will help to efficiently resolve disputes at a convenient, fast pace and with international standards.
