THAC discussed with SAT to establish CAS for the first time in Thailand!!!

On 11 November 2020, Dr. Pasit Asawawattanaporn, the Director of Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC), and his team went for a discussion and with the Governor for Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) in establishing an alternative sports dispute resolution center in order to be raised to international standard

Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC) is a center that provides international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution services, consistent with a team of specialists whose knowledge and skills are acceptable internationally. THAC came for discussion with Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, the Governor for the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), along with Mr. Nattapong Posakabutra and Mr. Nonchai Santibutrkul, in establishing an alternative sports dispute resolution center. However, at present, Thailand does not have any organization or agency dedicated to alternative dispute resolution in sports. In the event that a sporting dispute arises, the only organization responsible for dispute resolution is the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). This is different from the countries where the sport dispute resolution center have been established, such as England and Canada.

Therefore, THAC has consulted with the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) in establishing the sport-related dispute resolution center by mediation and arbitration. In the event of a dispute, having a competent case manager who is knowledgeable in the particular sports will provide an effective, convenient, and fast dispute resolution, which can also be recognized internationally.
