The Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC) signed a joint agreement with the Rights and Liberties Protection Department (RLPD), the Ministry of Justice to promote the Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) service system to meet the 4.0 Thailand’s national policy.
On 17th April 2020, in the presence of Mr Prasarn Mahaleektrakul, the Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Mr Asawawattanaporn, THAC Managing Director, and Mr Suwaree RLPD General Director, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the use of online mediation This MoU was created to promote the introduction of innovation and technology as a tool to facilitate Alternative Dispute Resolution in a fast, easy, accessible and cost-effective way. Dr Pasit Asawawattanaporn explained in 2015 that the Thai Arbitration Institute (TAI) developed an ODR system called TALK DD. This system can only support e-commerce disputes. The MoU aims to create an ODR system to cover different types of dispute, not only the e-commerce ones. Mr Ruangsak Suwaree said that this agreement was made for the cooperation of both departments to make ODR more efficient.
