Pahang can still submit to arbitration regarding FIFA’s decision ordering 36 million payment to ‘Sumareh’.
This is the biggest amount awarded to any football player in the Malaysian league as Federation Internationale de Football Association, or FIFA, ordered the Pahang Football Association to pay Mohamadou Sumareh, an Indonesian star player, for over US$1.2million or THB 36 million after the allegation that Pahang failed to pay his wages.
Mohamadou Sumareh, an Indonesian star player, left Pahang last August after the club refused to pay his salary according to the contract. The contract stipulated a US$5,000 or THB150,000 increment per annum after his second year. However, Sumareh claimed that he had not received his salary since joining the team in 2017.
The review proceeding has recently concluded, and the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) responded to the complaint regarding the decision of FIFA, which ordered Pahang FA to pay US$1.2million in salary compensation, calculated from the annual increments stipulated in the agreement and also included the breach of contract in 2020 and 2021. This is considered the biggest amount for Indonesian football players. Pahang still has 10 days from the date of the decision to appeal FIFA’s decision or complaint to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS). Otherwise, they have 45 days to settle the amount. Failure to settle the compensation could see PFA being slapped with a registration ban for the next transfer window or league points’ deduction. For more news, follow at www.thac.or.th.
